"Shockway Rider" is an action game taking place in some distant future where every big city is surrounded by moving pedestrian walkways called shockways. The goal of the game is to complete a full circle on the shockway, which consists of three lanes moving at different speed. Obstacles are provided by gang members and angry citizens who block the shockways and have to be fought off with weapons or bare fists.

Trivia

The game's title is an apparent homage to John Brunner's 1975 sci-fi novel the Shockwave Rider.

On November 28, 1987, Shockway Rider was put on the infamous German index by the BPjS.

Description from the packaging:

To go the full circle on the Shockway means a rider must pass through a dozen different districts and face a variety of hazards. These can be overcome by direct hand to hand combat or by well-aimed missiles such as a bottle or a brick, which can be collected from various parts of the Shockway. Points are awarded for fighting street gangs and muggers, as well as eliminating passers-by. Traveling on the faster lanes gives extra points and completing a district within the time will give a bonus.
